Terminus is a Hungarian-English online dictionary focusing on creating a pragmatic collection of communication terms – to help everyday work immediately, using reliable theoretical sources. The main goal of the encyclopedia is to build a bridge between the educational environment with science on demand and the practice-oriented labour market.
It is a common problem that the knowledge learned in higher education is only a small, distant part of the requirements of the labour market. Both from employer and employee side it means a tremendous amount of energy and time input to integrate university students and interns into the corporate culture.
All the researches during the qualification for Communication and Media Sciences require the use of academic sources in foreign languages (mostly in English), not to mention the huge amount of English terms that a university student might meet on the labour market right after graduating. Language difficulties basically come from the lack of language skills, but the barrier is the imperfect interpretation of scientific terms.
To this problem system Terminus aims to give a solution by providing frequently used phrases of the science of communication in this bilingual English-Hungarian dictionary. The main goal of the encyclopedia is to build a bridge between the educational environment with science on demand the practice-oriented labour market helping to integrate the collected knowledge after graduation. We believe this platform will fill the gap that has been between education and work for a long time and will help interpret terminological texts in English in a professional way.
We believe as there is a Business for Economics Examination, there is an existing terminology of the profession of communication (and media) both on theoretical and pragmatic level.
